The Mokai rebrand unifies brand identity, packaging, website, and product messaging into a polished, engaging experience designed for dog owners.

Mokai is a four-product line of dog supplement chews from a wellness company focused on natural, science-backed pet nutrition. Each formula supports a different aspect of canine health—joint care, skin and coat health, gut health, and stress relief—while maintaining a unified, approachable brand identity. 

As the sole designer, I led the brand refresh from strategy to launch, shaping the visual identity, packaging, website, and product storytelling into a cohesive, modern experience for dog owners while collaborating with stakeholders throughout.

Brand Audit & Discovery

STEP 1

I began by analyzing Mokai’s existing brand identity and packaging to identify strengths worth keeping and areas for improvement.
 

  • Reviewed the previous packaging system, which used cluttered layouts, inconsistent typography, and competing colors.
     

  • Conducted a visual audit of competitors in the pet wellness space to pinpoint opportunities for differentiation. Identified key elements to retain (brand name recognition, product benefit clarity) while establishing a plan for simplification, consistency, and a modernized visual direction.

Visual Identity & Style Guide

STEP 2

I built a style guide that unified the brand’s look and feel across packaging, digital, and marketing touchpoints.

  • Defined a primary typeface system for consistency across packaging and web.
     

  • Established a color-coding system to differentiate each product while maintaining overall brand harmony:

Joint Restore (purple)  hip and joint support

Primal Omega (orange)  skin, coat, and allergy relief

Vital Probiotic (red)  gut health and longevity

Easy Calm (blue)  relaxation and stress relief

 

  • Created a minimal, modern aesthetic with playful yet polished illustrations and icons that communicate benefits at a glance.
     

  • Documented logo usage, typography, color palettes, iconography, and photography style to serve as a reference for future brand assets.

Packaging Design

STEP 3

I redesigned packaging for the four supplements, balancing individuality with brand consistency.
 

  • Simplified label layouts to remove visual clutter while retaining the most effective elements of the original design.
     

  • Used bold color blocks and consistent typography to create strong visual consistency and build consumer trust.
     

  • Designed unique accent colors and product icons for each formula, making it easy for pet owners to distinguish between products at a glance.
     

  • Ensured the packaging communicated benefits clearly with a clean hierarchy of information optimized for online shopping.

Website Design

STEP 4

I led the design of Mokai’s responsive website, making the new identity come to life online.

  • Developed a clean, modern layout with clear visual hierarchy and simplified navigation.
     

  • Designed desktop and mobile views for the home page, shop page, and product pages.
     

  • Incorporated product color-coding into the website for quick differentiation.
     

  • Integrated ingredient visuals and lifestyle photography to highlight transparency and brand credibility.
     

  • Balanced brand storytelling with easy e-commerce usability.
